Calendar of Meetings, Events & Online Registrations

The NSFA Business Meeting is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and our Social "potluck" gathering is on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Both meetings are held at 7:00 pm at the Kraft Athletic Club on Amelia Island. Occasionally, the meetings and their locations are rescheduled due to weather, tournaments and holidays.  Be sure to check our calendar for dates, locations and times. Please join us and see what the club is all about.

    Please come and find out what's going on and learn how to participate in the club.  There are always new topics that come up and discussions that are lively and even sometimes interesting!


    There are plenty of seats available and the meetings generally last about an hour.  It is a very casual setting with some arranged tables and folding chairs.  It is held inside the main building at the far east end of the Kraft property.  Buzz yourself in at the front door and once you are inside take the first left through a doorway and then go left into the meeting room itself.  People start to arrive between 6:45 PM and 7:00 PM.

    ** Please Note **  Due to local ordinances, we are not permitted to bring any alcoholic beverages into the main KAC building.

    Back by popular demand !  Rick Mowery has put together a session with noted angler and instructor Noel Kuhn.  You can learn more about Noel at his web site : http://www.thesurfangler.com

    Everyone is invited and does not have to be a club member to participate.  This is a class and NOT a practice session.  You DO NOT need to bring your own equipment.  You can if you like but Noel will have his available for everyone.  Several of the topics to be discussed and demonstrated by Noel are:

    1. Proper casting techniques with a spinning and conventional rod/reel

    2. Shock leaders

    3. Size of braid and mono to use, size of leaders

    4.  Some basic surf rigs to use

    5. How to put different fresh bait on the hook (shrimp, crab, clams, fish)

    6. The proper way to put a sand spike in

    7. Where to find the fish

    8. How to handle sharks, rays, and catfish.

    Surf Fishing
    You must register so we can contact you if there is a cancellation due to weather or other causes.  

    We are asking people to bring lawn chairs.  We will have some water at the session.

    Please plan to come to another great monthly NSFA social get together.  This month the theme is <TBD>  We will be at the Kraft Ten Acres shelter house.

    At 6:15 PM we will welcome Officer Benjamin Boots.  He is with the National Marine Fisheries Service, Office of Law Enforcement (also known as NOAA Fisheries) stationed on the east coast of Florida.  He covers from the GA/FL line to Ft. Pierce, FL..  He will be available to to answer any questions we may have regarding the federal fishery laws and regulations pertaining to the South Atlantic.  Of special local interest are kingfish, snapper, and grouper. 

    There will be a New Members table and an ambassador to make you and yours welcome if you are newcomers to the group.

    Salads, side dishes and desserts are always a welcome addition you can bring. 

    These socials are BYOB of your beverage of choice.  No drinks are provided.  The club provides eating utensils, napkins and paper plates.

    If you bring a side dish or a dessert that needs serving utensils you need to bring them.  If you have any other questions about these events or what to bring please ask us with a note sent to : Questions.

    Once again we will be hosting an SKA Division 5 sanctioned kingfish tournament and an In/Off Shore Rodeo tournament for 8 different species.  Check the rules and schedule out at : FBFR Rules for 2018

    Truly something for every angler to shoot for will be on the bill this year.  All entry fees are considered as donations to the NSFA.

    The traditional silent auction and raffle will be going on full swing Friday and Saturday. For food there will be our great barbeque along with a fully equipped "Scoops" ice cream stand. The Budweiser Beer Wagon will be on hand along with other non alcoholic beverages to help handle the summer heat. There will be live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evening featuring Larry and the Backtracks on stage. There will be several boats of various sizes on display. Lots of things to see and do and don't forget the exciting weigh-in of all the fish caught. It happens from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM Saturday afternoon. Jacksonville's own Captain Rick Ryals, Florida Sportsman TV and radio personality will be the emcee. You won't want to miss it. We invite everyone to attend and enjoy both days of activities. You might even see a Fernandina Pirate or two roaming the waterfront!

    The awards presentations will begin at 7:30 PM on Saturday evening.

    Please note that should weather conditions force a postponement, Sunday, August 5, 2018 is our rain date.
